Michigan needs Mike more than ever!

With less than 3 weeks left until the Obama administration is officially voted into office, it has become clear that Michigan's economic woes will continue on for at least the next four years. It's amazing how a state with the worst economy in the country and an unemployment rate nearing double digits can become so irrelevant so quickly.

There was a time when Michigan was front and center in the debate about the future of our economy and was considered a crucial swing state on the road to the White House. Now, however, it's taken on the personality of the alcholic Uncle that everyone talks about and feels bad for but no one is willing to step up and try to help put on the path to recovery. It's amazing how a man like John McCain who gives speeches about fighting for the American people was so quick to pull out all of his resources and ads from this State when a few liberal polls showed him behind Barack Obama. Some fighter he is. Seems to me that when the going gets tough, John McCain gets going. Going right out of the state and out of the election. Way to fight John!

Although it's too late now I am convinced that looking back had Mike Huckabee been given the opportunity to run for the White House against Obama that he would never have abandoned the plight of the people in Michigan. CBS News pointed out the importance that he put on helping out the state during these tough times:

Against the dated backdrop Huckabee recalled the “manufacturing genius of Michigan” that helped turn out “our tanks, our planes, our bullets, and our bombs” during World War II. He said, “I think it is fair to say that there was a time in America’s history when Michigan saved America. And now it may be time for America to help save Michigan.”

I believe that although the next 4 years will be the worst that this state has ever endured, I also believe that Mike Huckabee can not only win this state in 2012 but that once in office he will not abandon any of his fellow citizens and will be the leader that this state so badly needs in Washington.
